Diamond Open Access

JEMS charges no article processing charges (APCs) and no access fees. All content is freely available immediately upon publication.

What is Diamond Open Access?

Diamond Open Access is a model in which journals make all published content freely and immediately available to readers online, without embargo, while also charging no fees to authors for submission or publication.

JEMS Open Access Commitments

  • All articles are freely accessible online immediately upon publication
  • No subscription or access fees charged to readers, libraries, or institutions
  • No submission fees or article processing charges at any stage
  • Published articles licensed under CC BY 4.0, enabling unrestricted reuse with attribution
  • Authors retain full copyright in their published work

Licensing

All articles are published under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0). This licence permits copying, distribution, transmission, and adaptation for any purpose, including commercial, provided appropriate attribution is given. Full licence: creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0.

Author Rights

Authors retain copyright and grant the journal a non-exclusive licence to publish and archive the article. Authors may deposit their published version in any institutional repository or personal website without embargo.

Future Policy Changes

Should the open access model or fee structure change in future, any such change will be transparently communicated in advance and will not affect manuscripts already submitted or under review at the time of the announcement.
