Authors publishing in JEMS retain full copyright in their work. Upon acceptance, authors grant JEMS a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to publish, reproduce, distribute, transmit, and archive the article. This licence does not restrict the author's ability to reuse their work elsewhere.

All articles are published under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0). Under CC BY 4.0, any person or organisation is free to:

Preprints
JEMS permits and encourages authors to post preprint versions on recognised servers such as SSRN, arXiv, or OSF Preprints. Authors should update the preprint record with a link to the published version upon acceptance.
