Authors should read these guidelines carefully and ensure full compliance before submission. Manuscripts that do not conform may be returned without review.

1. File Format and Length

Manuscripts should be submitted as Microsoft Word files (.docx). PDF is not accepted at initial submission.

2. Formatting

  • Font: Times New Roman or similar serif, 12pt
  • Line spacing: Double-spaced throughout (including references)
  • Margins: 2.5cm on all sides
  • Page numbering: Consecutive, bottom centre
  • No author identification in the manuscript body (double-blind review)

3. Manuscript Structure

Submit two files: (1) a Title Page with full author details, and (2) a Blinded Manuscript with no author-identifying information.

Standard structure for original research articles:

  1. Title (max. 20 words recommended)
  2. Abstract β€” 200–300 words
  3. Keywords β€” 5–8 keywords
  4. Introduction
  5. Theoretical Background / Literature Review
  6. Research Design / Methodology
  7. Results / Findings
  8. Discussion
  9. Conclusions (including limitations and future research)
  10. References
  11. Appendices (if applicable)

4. Referencing Style

JEMS follows American Psychological Association (APA 7th edition). DOIs should be included for all references where available.

5. Figures and Tables

  • All figures and tables must be numbered consecutively and referenced in the text
  • Each must have a concise, self-explanatory caption
  • Tables must be in editable Word format (not images)
  • Figures: minimum 300 dpi resolution
  • Authors must obtain permission for third-party figures or tables

6. Ethical Requirements

All manuscripts must include: Conflict of Interest statement, Funding statement, Data Availability statement, AI Use disclosure (if applicable), and research ethics approval (for research involving human participants).

7. Language

Manuscripts must be written in clear, grammatically correct English. JEMS accepts both British and American English (usage must be consistent). Authors whose first language is not English are encouraged to have their manuscript reviewed by a native speaker or professional language editing service prior to submission.
